2016 Lund 1875 Crossover XS Boat Review

Just as crossovers in the automotive world are extremely popular with families for their flexibility, they are also popular in the aluminum boating world for those same reasons. The Lund 1875 Crossover XS is a great example.

The 1875 is built on Lund’s proven Integrated Power Strake(IPS) hull, which is designed to plane quickly, corner sharply and ride dryly. With the power of the Mercury 150 FourStroke behind me, I experienced those features quite nicely, getting onto plane in a mere three-point-seven seconds. Handling - especially with the SeaStar Hydraulic Steering - was crisp and responsive.

With only a few select options, the 1875 comes ready for a day of family fun. The addition of the ski package, Snap-in carpet, comfortable pilot chairs, Bimini top, bow cushions, stainless swim ladder and additional stereo speakers ensure the family is happy and comfortable.

Even as a fish and ski model, serious anglers won’t be disappointed. The 1875 has a spacious forward casting deck, a mount for a fishing chair, two in-deck storage lockers and bow anchor locker. Smaller items will fit into an open space at the bow that is flanked by the trolling motor plug and courtesy light.

An in-floor locker handles skis and boards and forward of that is a locking storage space for five, seven-foot rods. More storage for eight-foot rods is located in the portside gunnel.

The transom casting platform has flush mounts for a ski pylon and fishing chair. Centred is the 24-gallon livewell with light and timer.

Wide gunnel decks and Lund’s SportTrack accessory fastening system provide all of the mounting points for downriggers and a long list of fishing accessories.

The molded helm has a full set of gauges, tilt wheel and space for mounting big electronics. The system switches, Infinity AM/FM MP3 Bluetooth stereo, plus 12 volt accessory plug and auxiliary input are all conveniently located.

At almost 19 feet the 1875 Crossover XS is ready to tackle big lakes, big fish and family fun.
